Homeworks is a work/live project that showcases the artistic and scientific possibilities of sustainability. Created by a team on the forefront of state-of-the art technology, working with designers, ecologists, landscape architects, a LEED-versed architect, and European manufacturers (Hasslacher and Josko). At the core of the project is the belief that working and living with natural light, organic materials, and top quality of interior choices measurably influences our way of feeling, working, and being for the better. Homeworks is the first project in America to use the exceptionally efficient Josko One windows and doors out of Austria. The structures were built using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) which is a renewable and environmentally friendly product. CLT is highly burn resistant and has minimal thermal bridging properties making it vastly more energy efficient and soundproof than traditional wood frame construction. The light-colored stones ballasting the rubber membrane roof have a high albedo which reflects solar heat keeping the structures cooler while protecting the rubber membrane from UV damage. Heat is provided evenly throughout the livable spaces by radiant floor heat and air-conditioning is provided by an extremely energy efficient heat pump system. The main level flooring is exposed concrete for low maintenance and second floor carpeting is a renewable natural wool from New Zealand. The detached garage has an integral solar photo voltaic grid which is productive year-round. This property is in the final stages of being split into a condominium association. The preliminary plat as been approved by Planning and Zoning. Once recorded, this condominium will be governed by a newly formed owners' association with monthly dues that have yet to be finalized. An estimate of the dues can be provided. Taxes for this property only reflect the vacant land value and have not yet been updated include the buildings or future condominium value. The property is currently a member of the Airport West Business Park Owners' Association and the Airport West Lot 2 Block 3 Sub Association. Zoning for this property is SCI-I.
